A look at car accidents and top vehicle brands

The number of people killed in a car crash has gone down from a year ago.

 

There was around two and a half percent drop from 2017 to 2018 from people killed in a car crash, according to Traffic Safety Facts by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

 

It's an excellent sign to see that the number of deaths are going down. In 2018 alone, there were around 12,800 passenger car deaths.  

Car Brands With The Most Accidents 

 

Now let's talk about the car brand that gets into the most accidents. Autoinsurance.org made a top ten for vehicles involved in most fatal crashes.  Honda came in the top 4th for cars in a car crash. In 2017 there were about 3,800 Hondas that were involved in a car crash.

 

Toyota came in 3rd with 4,260 fatal crashes in 2017. According to Auto Insurance, in the beginning, part of 2018, the Toyota Camry was the second most purchased car in California. The Honda Civic was number one with 43,857, according to the Los Angeles Times.

 

Chevrolet was second on the list, with 7,126 fatal crashes in 2017.  

 

The brand that came on top of the list was the top-selling brand in America for eight straight years, is Ford. In 2017 there were 7,377 fatal car crashes. Most of the wrecks are happening in Texas and California.
 

Safest Car Brands 

 

Let's transition to find out the best safest rated cars of 2019. According to Kelley Blue Book, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class came in top 4 with a 4.7 rating out of five.

 

The Honda Accord is third on the list. With a 4.8 expert rating out of five is the second safest car is the Audi A5.

 

The Honda Accord Hybrid is on top of the list with a 4.8 rating out of five for the safest cars of 2019.  

 

Now when you're on the road or looking to get a car or driving from point a to point b, make sure you get there safe.

Car Accident Deaths 

 

The category that year to date had the most significant increase was large truck crashes with no injury with a 13.7 percent increase from 2017.

 

In 2018 there was a 7.6 percent decrease with motorcyclists injured. It means that fewer people driving motorcycles got wounded.

 

Reflecting on the data so far, people got into fewer accidents in 2018 than in 2017.

 

NHTSA collected more data about people killed or injured. There was a drop in people killed or wounded in the age range of 16-20. But in 2018, between ages 55 through 64, 3,000 more people were killed or injured.

 

Overall in 2018, fewer deaths were reported than a year ago.

 

More than 70 percent of the fatal crashes in 2018 were from male drivers. In injury crashes, it was close to a 50 percent male and about 45 percent female.
